ROLEX AND THE FIA WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP RETURN TO JAPAN FOR THE 6 HOURS OF FUJI

GENEVA, 23 September 2026 — The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) returns to Japan for the 6 Hours of Fuji on Sunday, 27 September. When the Rolex clock reaches 11 a.m., the race will begin at Fuji Speedway beneath Mount Fuji, with the manufacturers’ and drivers’ championships still closely contested as the season approaches its final stages. Fuji is the sixth of eight rounds in the 2026 calendar and its only Asian stop.
Rolex marks ten years as the WEC’s Official Timepiece in 2026. Its connection to endurance racing reaches back to the 1960s, and the Japanese round places timing and resilience at the heart of a championship in which every pit stop, lap and strategic decision can influence the outcome.
The 4.563-kilometre Fuji circuit combines a long straight with fast corners, testing both physical endurance and racecraft. Rolex Testimonee Mark Webber knows the circuit well: he won here with his team-mates in 2015, the year he secured the WEC drivers’ title. Reflecting on endurance racing, Webber emphasises the importance of adapting and continually improving as competition intensifies.
For Toyota Racing’s Hypercar squad, Fuji is a rare home race. According to the 23 September Rolex release, the team leads the manufacturers’ standings with 140 points, nine ahead of BMW M Team WRT. Rolex Testimonee Nyck de Vries and his fellow drivers in the No. 7 Toyota are also level at the top of the drivers’ standings. Following Toyota’s Le Mans victory in June, de Vries hopes to carry that momentum into Japan and deliver a strong result for the home crowd.
After Fuji, the title fight moves to Europe for the 6 Hours of Barcelona and the season-ending 6 Hours of Monza. De Vries says maintaining competitiveness at every race weekend will be essential as the championship reaches its conclusion.
