Jaeger-LeCoultre Unveils The Collectibles VII and Calibre 101 Chain in Hong Kong

Jaeger-LeCoultre presents the seventh capsule of The Collectibles in Hong Kong, unveiling ten museum-grade vintage timepieces and the programme’s first-ever exhibition. Running from 13 to 19 October, the exhibition also marks the global debut of the Calibre 101 Chain, a new jewellery watch inspired by the Maison’s historic miniature movement.

A First for The Collectibles

The Hong Kong presentation is the first exhibition devoted to The Collectibles, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s in-house programme for sourcing, restoring and offering rare timepieces from the golden age of watchmaking. The exhibition brings together 16 pieces: eight emblematic mid-century vintage models from the Maison’s Heritage Collection, paired with eight contemporary evolutions. Visitors can see live demonstrations of restoration, hand blueing and pivot polishing by the Manufacture-Atelier’s watchmakers.

The seventh capsule comprises ten timepieces offered for acquisition during the exhibition and online. The exhibition is organised around four chapters: Duoplan, Reverso, Memovox and Precision.

A Century of Watchmaking Stories

The capsule spans the 1920s to the dawn of the 21st century, bringing together creations that reflect the breadth of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s technical and aesthetic innovation. Among them are a 1955 Duoplan Chain in 18K pink gold, a 1949 Duoplan Tubogas secret watch, a circa-1935 single-lug Duoplan and a circa-1950 Calibre 101 watch set with 22 baguette-cut diamonds.

The selection also includes the 1931 Reverso Cordonnet, the 2001 Reverso Platinum Number 1 and the 2003 Reverso Platinum Number 2. Together, these pieces trace the Maison’s evolution from miniaturised movements and distinctive jewellery watches to complicated, finely finished Reverso calibres.

Calibre 101 Chain: A New Expression of Miniature Watchmaking

At the centre of the launch is the Calibre 101 Chain. The world’s smallest rectangular manually wound mechanical calibre forms the centrepiece of a sculptural bangle in 18K pink gold. Brilliant-cut white diamonds alternate with glossy black Hyceram® in diagonal bands, creating a contemporary jewellery design. The Hong Kong exhibition also presents the 1955 timepiece that directly inspired the new creation.

First introduced in the Duoplan story in 1929, Calibre 101 remains the oldest calibre continuously produced by the Manufacture-Atelier.

Four Chapters of the Maison’s Heritage

Introduced in 1925, the Duoplan united extreme miniaturisation with chronometric precision. The Reverso, created in 1931 for British polo players in India, became an Art Deco icon with its swivelling case. Launched in 1950, the Memovox made the mechanical alarm a signature complication of the Maison. The Precision chapter follows Jaeger-LeCoultre’s pursuit of accuracy and reliability through models including the Triple Calendar, Geophysic, Geomatic and Memovox Speed Beat GT.

The programme’s 17 emblematic models span from the mid-1920s to the early 1970s. Each restored Collectibles timepiece is serviced by the Manufacture’s restoration workshop, with original character and patina carefully preserved.
