Vacheron Constantin Unveils the Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Azure Dial to Mark the Collection's 30th Anniversary

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Overseas collection, Vacheron Constantin introduces the new Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin Azure Dial — a limited edition of 200 pieces pairing, for the first time, a white gold case with a new azure dial colour. Brighter, softer and less saturated than traditional blue tones, the new dial evokes a sense of escape and wide-open spaces, reflecting the travel-inspired spirit that has defined the collection since 1996. The timepiece is powered by the ultra-thin self-winding Calibre 1120 QP/1, just 4.05 mm thick, housed in a case measuring only 8.1 mm in height, and is delivered with three interchangeable straps that can be swapped without tools.

Launched in 1996, the Overseas is the worthy successor to the legendary 222 of 1977, carrying forward the sport-chic elegance pioneered by the Maison's contemporary watchmaking. Distinguished by its signature bezel design, exceptional craftsmanship and invitation to travel, the collection became one of the Maison's most emblematic creations. The second generation of 2004 marked a bolder, sportier aesthetic with an integrated bracelet evoking the Maltese cross, while the third and current generation, launched in 2016, brought proprietary movements, enhanced comfort and the innovative quick-change strap system. Alongside stainless steel and 18K gold, titanium and platinum have further enriched the palette of materials — from simple time-telling models to the finest complications, skeletonised movements and jewellery watches.

The new Overseas Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar stands out for its use of a new shade of blue: lighter, less intense and less saturated, azure takes on different tones according to the light and, complemented by the understated lustre of white gold, achieves a subtle balance between sophistication and casual elegance. The visual depth of the lacquered dial is emphasised by the harmony of the displays, notably the moon phase disc in a matching shade of blue, while the calendar indications and applied hour markers create a subtle contrast that enhances legibility. Designed as a true travel companion, the model features the tool-free interchangeable strap system exclusive to the Overseas collection: the integrated white gold bracelet with micro-adjustment clasp is complemented by two textured rubber straps — one in white and the other in denim blue — each with an interchangeable white gold pin buckle.

With the Manufacture Calibre 1120 QP/1, Vacheron Constantin builds on a long tradition of ultra-thin movements. Incorporating a full perpetual calendar with a moon phase display, this self-winding mechanical movement is just 4.05 mm thick — a true feat of miniaturisation that allows the case to retain a slender profile of 8.1 mm. Capable of automatically accounting for months with 28, 30 and 31 days as well as leap years, the perpetual calendar requires no adjustment until the year 2100. The sapphire crystal case back reveals meticulous finishing in the grand tradition of Haute Horlogerie calibres: Côtes de Genève and bevelling on the bridges, perlage on the mainplate, and vertical or circular satin finishes on the calendar components. The 22k gold oscillating weight is engraved with a compass rose — a symbol of the Overseas collection's spirit of exploration — and all 276 components, including those hidden once the movement is assembled, are carefully finished.
