By Anna Lam Market News

The Maison Van Cleef & Arpels of Hong Kong, located since 2011 in the Landmark Prince’s building at 10 Chater Road Central, now unveils a new address at Alexandra House. From June 29, the Maison’s Jewelry, High Jewelry and Watchmaking creations will be presented in a 564 m² (approx. 6,070 sq. ft.) space designed by Studio Jouin Manku where nature and architecture seamlessly intertwine.

Van Cleef & Arpels in Hong Kong
The story of Van Cleef & Arpels in Hong Kong began in 1981 with the opening of the Maison’s first retail locations at the behest of Jacques Arpels, including one at Landmark. In 2011, Studio Jouin Manku designed the first Van Cleef & Arpels Maison in Asia in the Landmark Prince’s building at 10 Chater Road Central. In 2026, the boutique relocates to Alexandra House with a reimagined setting.
“Each Van Cleef & Arpels Maison requires a singular approach and in-depth research in order to fully express the Maison’s identity while staying true to the local culture. Studio Jouin Manku designed the original boutique over ten years ago and oversaw its renovation in 2020. Today, they are also leading the relocation process, allowing the Maison’s full range of collections to be presented in a more spacious, modern and welcoming setting.”

“This new Maison builds on precedent while embracing a larger scale. The first developped an intimate atmosphere, structured around the staircase as its defining element. Here, this concept continues but with greater volume, fluidity, and a sense of spaciousness. This change of scale has allowed us to create new salons and sequences. The visit feels like a promenade, almost a dream, where spaces gradually unfold to reveal Van Cleef & Arpels’ universe. Extending across three sections, the facade asserts a new presence in the city. It retains certain stylistic elements of the original while introducing petals and cloudlike forms that bring motion and lightness: a nod to this peninsula located between sea and mountains.”

A facade imbued with poetry
For Van Cleef & Arpels’ new Maison in Hong Kong, Studio Jouin Manku designed an exterior facade in light-toned stone. With vast textured glass openings, it blends a “rain of light” effect with giant white plaster petals that seem to flutter across the boutique’s two floors. The work of artistry craftsmen in England, their lightness echoes the airy quality of the city, while also recalling elements of the Landmark Prince’s Maison, such as the luminous glass curtains. Evoking dreamlike greenery, the 825 m² (8,900 sq. ft.) facade captures the eye while blending seamlessly with the surrounding city lights. Passersby on the street or the walkways leading to Alexandra House can glimpse both levels of the boutique. At night, its three walls come to life in an enchanting, shimmering display. Inside, a second, wooden facade inspired by Parisian passages welcomes visitors in a serene and natural atmosphere.
Where nature meets architecture
Architectural and natural elements combine in this new boutique which offers a wide variety of contrasting atmospheres. These spaces display the Van Cleef & Arpels collections in neutral tones of offwhite, beige and laurel green, unified by touches of wood. Here and there, vegetal accents evoke the surrounding landscape, offering moments of calm. On the ground floor, a vast circular room clad in oak paneling provides a welcoming atmosphere. Warm earth tones grace the floor, ceiling and furniture, accompanied by vegetal motifs on wall coverings created exclusively for the Maison.
This space opens onto a majestic staircase, a central feature of the boutique inspired by the design at Landmark Prince’s. Its steps in light limestone, paired with oak, lead to the upper floor, where visitors discover more of the Van Cleef & Arpels universe. Tall display cases and glass columns showcase High Jewelry, Jewelry and Watchmaking creations. Above, a play of lines draws the eye toward a handcrafted ceiling decor, whose soft iridescence filters and diffuses the light.

A place for memorable moments
The boutique welcomes a space featuring a cabinet made for tea ceremonies. The walls are clad in local rose-colored stone that was crafted from mineral powder, the research for which was conducted in collaboration with L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts in Hong Kong. This setting creates a dialogue between the local landscape and the Maison’s cherished gemstones, exploring the nuance and chromatic vibration of material. The place is also distinguished by a private salon featuring a vast smoked oak bookcase, where a concealed display case appears on demand to reveal unique pieces. Finally, an immersive salon, destined to host a wide range of events and occasions, lies tucked away at the foot of the grand staircase. Echoing the petals found on the facade, an undulating, almost swirling motif unfolds across a ceiling whose fabric was entirely hand-embroidered by French craftsmen. A final salon, bathed in natural light from the facade, offers a close look at the Maison’s pieces in an intimate atmosphere full of beige tones.
The second floor of the Van Cleef & Arpels Maison in Hong Kong also houses a space dedicated to watchmaking. In shades of midnight blue, beige and wood, this salon celebrates the Maison’s Poetry of Time cherished philosophy. A radiant plaster motif in the center of the ceiling evokes the guilloché aesthetic found in several creations. The floor echoes this motif, creating a unified ambiance. An adjoining private salon invites visitors to explore the poetry of timepieces at their leisure. A fragrance salon recalls the emblematic boutique at 22 Place Vendôme. Contemporary in spirit, this luminous space in soft tones features wall alcoves inspired by traditional perfume organs. Each one highlights a fragrance from the Collection Extraordinaire. In the back, a counter allows visitors to discover each scent individually. In front of a decorative panel lies the olfactory space. Made of multiple layers of glass and textile, it reveals a painted vegetal decor punctuated with gold leaf. Overlapping transparent elements create motifs that seem to move as if animated by a light breeze.

A spotlight on the creative history of Van Cleef & Arpels
On the ground floor, a presentation space is dedicated to the Maison’s history. It will host four exhibitions per year, exploring themes that reflect its creative vitality. To mark the opening of the boutique, the exhibition Welcome to Van Cleef & Arpels’ Universe will showcase a selection of pieces from the patrimonial Collection. This display will pay tribute to the Maison’s sources of inspiration and some of its most emblematic creations.
