PANERAI BRINGS 'THE DEPTHS OF TIME' EXHIBITION TO HONG KONG

Following the success of "The Depths of Time" across its global tour, which began last September and has travelled through Florence, New York City, Miami, Shanghai, Tokyo and Taipei, Panerai's historical exhibition opens in Hong Kong on October 8, 2026. Open to the public from October 11 to October 25 at Panerai's flagship store on Canton Road, the exhibition transforms multiple floors into an immersive destination dedicated to the brand's classified origins, maritime world and enduring pursuit of watchmaking precision, with more than 70 precious pieces from the Panerai archives and private collections on display.

Located in Tsim Sha Tsui's luxury retail district, the Canton Road flagship store provides a contemporary Hong Kong setting for a story deeply rooted in the sea. Across three floors, visitors will encounter a curated selection of historic watches, vintage instruments, archival photographs, technical drawings, catalogues and documents that illuminate Panerai's long-standing relationship with the navy and their professional underwater missions.

"We are proud to bring 'The Depths of Time' to Hong Kong, a city where collectors and watch aficionados have long shown a profound appreciation for Panerai's distinctive identity. Staged within our Canton Road flagship store, this exhibition offers a rare opportunity to encounter the instruments, archival materials, and timepieces that shaped our legacy — a unique history born between underwater missions and military secrecy, and a demonstration of how Panerai continues to transform functional expertise into contemporary watchmaking," says Emmanuel Perrin, CEO of Panerai.

Rather than following a purely chronological sequence, the exhibition reveals the origins of the Maison's signature technical features — elevated luminescence, advanced water resistance, robust construction and extended power reserve — developed in response to real operational needs before becoming the unmistakable design codes of Panerai today. The journey begins with the Panerai family's Florentine roots and the brand's connection with the Italian Navy from the early 1910s, then moves through the technical breakthroughs that defined its instrument-making expertise: from Radiomir and Luminor luminescent materials for underwater readability, to water-resistant cases and the crown-protecting bridge historically patented in 1956. Further sections display professional instruments such as compasses and depth gauges, and the legendary power-reserve function incorporated into Panerai timepieces from the mid-1950s.

The journey culminates with September 10, 1993 — the historic moment when Panerai's timepieces were presented to the civilian public after decades of classified military use. In tribute to its storied legacy, the exhibition also showcases the new manual-winding models unveiled during Watches & Wonders 2026, inspired by the iconic ref. 6152/1 from the 1960s — a defining reference for the Luminor's unmistakable design language, connecting Panerai's historical instruments with its latest expressions of contemporary watchmaking.

"The Depths of Time" Hong Kong — G/F–2/F, Panerai Boutique, 2 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong; October 8–25, 2026. Registration details are available via Panerai's official website.
