MB&F SP ONE PAVÉE — 255 DIAMONDS FRAME THE FLOATING MOVEMENT

A year ago, MB&F introduced the SP One, the first chapter of its new Special Projects collection – and its answer to a rather unexpected question: what if, after 20 years of wild creativity, MB&F created an elegant 38mm watch?

Today, the Maison reveals a new interpretation of that same idea with the SP One Pavée.

The original SP One was built around three circles: the barrel, balance wheel and inclined time dial, all seemingly floating at the centre of the watch. Housed in MB&F's smallest and slimmest case to date, its 38mm pebble-like architecture was deliberately understated – somewhere between the radical world of the Horological Machines and the more classical approach of the Legacy Machines. For this new version, MB&F wanted to explore a more precious expression of the SP One without changing what made the original design special.

A PRECIOUS EXPRESSION, UNCHANGED AT HEART

The SP One Pavée is crafted in 18K white gold and set with 255 diamonds, totalling 1.608 carats. Rather than simply covering the watch in diamonds, the setting follows the curves of the case, the amphitheatre-shaped flange, the crown and the buckle – framing the floating movement while preserving the smooth, sculptural character of the original SP One. The inclined dial also trades its previous black finish for a new dark blue PVD.

THE ARCHITECTURE REMAINS UNCHANGED

Inside, the architecture remains unchanged: the in-house hand-wound movement features 189 components, a 72-hour power reserve, the suspended balance wheel at 2 o'clock and the inclined time display at 6 o'clock. As with the original SP One, traditional hand-finishing remains an important part of the movement, with hand-angled wheels, polished bevels and hand-made engravings. For the Pavée edition, the bridges are finished in rhodium to complement the white gold case and diamond setting.

Retail price is CHF 78,000 + VAT (USD 104,000 / EUR 85,000 + tax).
