GENEVA, 24 September 2026 — The Laver Cup returns to London this year, back at The O2 Arena where Roger Federer played the final match of his career in 2022, surrounded by his closest friends and greatest rivals. For the Swiss legend, saying goodbye in the city that witnessed so many of his defining moments felt only fitting. Now the men's team event is back, certain to stir powerful emotions as the world's finest gather in London to compete for glory — and to trace one of the most moving farewells in the history of tennis. Federer remains the embodiment of excellence and precision. A Rolex partner since 2001, he became the first man to win 20 Grand Slam singles titles, claimed a record eight Wimbledon crowns and contributed outstanding singles results for Team Europe at the Laver Cup. "I was always afraid of the moment it would end. I thought I would feel lonely on court, but that wasn't the case at all, because I had my team-mates and my friends around me in London," he recalls. "I was fortunate to announce my retirement on the day and at the moment of my choosing, and to say goodbye to my career the way I wanted."

Team World has lifted the trophy three times in the last four editions, most recently on the strength of Taylor Fritz. Now a fixture in the ATP top ten and a regular in the closing rounds of Grand Slams, Fritz has become Team World's outstanding singles player, leading the team in both wins and points. He was part of the winning side in 2022 when Federer bowed out, and returns to The O2 Arena four years on, playing again in Federer's presence. Team Europe still leads the rivalry with five titles, and the three-time champion Team World arrives determined to keep its recent momentum and close the gap. Fritz partners Ben Shelton under vice-captain Pat Rafter, a two-time Grand Slam champion, while Carlos Alcaraz makes his third consecutive Laver Cup appearance for Team Europe, with Tim Henman returning as vice-captain.
