Gronefeld Launches the 1941 Quadrivium, Four Complications in One Watch

OLDENZAAL, 23 September 2026 — Bart and Tim Grönefeld have united four of their most admired complications in a single watch with the launch of the 1941 Quadrivium. The name borrows the classical quadrivium of arithmetic, geometry, music and astronomy, here alluding to the four mechanical disciplines gathered on the dial: a 7.5-second remontoire, a one-minute flying tourbillon, central jumping seconds and a power reserve indicator.

The movement was developed entirely from the ground up and is driven by serially connected concentric twin barrels. At 6 o’clock a raised flying tourbillon provides the focal point, while at 9 o’clock an exposed governor rotates once every 7.5 seconds, making the remontoire’s operation visible on the dial. The 50-hour power reserve sits at 10 o’clock, with hours and minutes displayed at 2 o’clock.

The case follows the 1941 design language introduced in 2016 and shared by the Remontoire, Principia, Decennium and Grönograaf, measuring 40.0 mm in diameter and 11.3 mm in height. The dial combines a finely frosted main surface with hand-bevelled stainless steel elements, polished multi-faceted white gold hour markers and traditional blued steel hands. Five base dial colours will be offered, to be announced a few weeks after launch.

Through the sapphire exhibition back, the elaborately finished movement reveals its 473 components. As with every Grönefeld creation, the architecture and finishing are intended to make the calibre an integral part of the watch’s visual experience.

The Premiere Edition is limited to 28 pieces in a 1941 Tantalum case, priced at €280,000. A further 28-piece limited edition comes with a case and buckle crafted from platinum, priced at €310,000 (both excluding taxes). Conceived for discerning connoisseurs, the Quadrivium brings together the technical signatures of the Grönograaf, the Remontoire and the Principia in an entirely new expression of high-end watchmaking from the Horological Brothers.
