Audemars Piguet Launches an Immersive Watchmaking Masterclass at AP House Macau

Hong Kong and Macau, 25 August 2026 — Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet is pleased to announce the arrival of its Masterclass programme at AP House Macau. Following the success of these educational workshops in Le Brassus in Switzerland, the Manufacture is extending its spirit of transmission to locations around the world. In Macau, participants can now experience an immersive two-part technical journey that culminates in the assembly of a signature movement and the creation of a personalised horology-themed keepsake.

The Masterclass offers an engaging yet technical exploration into the heart of fine watchmaking. The experience begins with a moment of transformation, as participants don the traditional watchmaker's coat before entering a dedicated space designed to mirror the serene, focused atmosphere of the Manufacture's ateliers in the Vallée de Joux. Guided by experts, participants engage with both the technical and creative dimensions of the craft, using professional tools and techniques to acquire a profound understanding of the generational expertise that has shaped Audemars Piguet's timepieces for over 150 years.

Titled "The Path of Mechanical Energy", the course is designed to demystify the complex inner workings of a mechanical watch. The first chapter focuses on the assembly of Calibre 4302, which powers timepieces in the Royal Oak and Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet collections, combining 257 parts to deliver a 70-hour power reserve at a frequency of 4 Hz. Working directly at the watchmaker's bench under professional guidance, guests assemble the key components that bring a mechanical movement to life — the barrel (energy source), the gear train (transmission), the escapement (distribution) and the balance wheel (regulation) — experiencing firsthand the precision required to ensure the calibre's stability and reliability.

In the second chapter, the focus shifts from engineering to refining the mechanics. Guided by experts, participants try their hand at traditional finishing techniques, including different kinds of polishing such as satin brushing and circular graining — delicate work that offers a direct insight into the patience and dexterity that characterises the Manufacture's workshops.

Hosted at AP House Macau, the largest AP House in Greater China, the Masterclass goes beyond traditional watchmaking workshops. Following their hands-on experience, participants are invited to continue their immersion in a sophisticated setting inspired by the rich landscapes and spirit of Le Brassus, blending Haute Horlogerie, refined hospitality and contemporary culture. Through this hands-on, multi-faceted approach, participants transition from spectators to artisans — and with Macau the first stop, the programme will continue to other locations in the future.

The Masterclass is available from 1 to 17 October 2026, from 10:00 to 18:00, by appointment only. Sessions welcome a maximum of 8 participants aged 16 and above, conducted in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. The experience is priced at MOP 3,200, hosted at Shop 1040a, Level 1, Shoppes at Four Seasons, Taipa, Macau.
