A. Lange & Söhne Presents ‘Challenging Chronographs’ Exhibition in Hong Kong
By Anna LamMarket News

Staying true to its guiding principle, “Never Stand Still”, A. Lange & Söhne presents the “Challenging Chronographs” exhibition in Hong Kong from 17 to 21 September. The exhibition traces the Saxon manufacture’s pursuit of precision through a carefully curated selection of historic watches, chronographs and contemporary timepieces.

An entrance tunnel inspired by the composition of a chronograph dial opens the experience. Historic pocket watches and displays of traditional watchmaking elements offer a glimpse into the brand’s distinguished history, while a recreation of the 24 October 1994 press conference in Dresden recalls the four wristwatches that marked A. Lange & Söhne’s return to the watchmaking stage.

The chronograph zone travels from the first DATOGRAPH in 1999 to the DATOGRAPH UP/DOWN and the TRIPLE SPLIT, the world’s first and, to date, only split-seconds chronograph capable of measuring intermediate, comparative and cumulative times for up to 12 hours. Together, these milestones reveal the manufacture’s relentless pursuit of new possibilities in time measurement.

The exhibition also presents the latest TRIPLE SPLIT in 950 platinum, limited to 100 pieces, alongside the 1815 UP/DOWN in 750 pink gold and 750 white gold, each limited to 300 pieces. Classic watches from the six families — LANGE 1, ZEITWERK, SAXONIA, 1815, RICHARD LANGE and ODYSSEUS — complete the presentation.

Interactive displays invite visitors to explore the mechanics of chronograph movements and the geometric language of the dials. A master engraver from the manufacture in Glashütte will also demonstrate the craft in person, offering a rare close-up view of A. Lange & Söhne’s meticulous handwork.
